AB0248 LIPID PROFILE CHANGES FROM PRE-CLINICAL TO ESTABLISHED RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS: A 12 YEARS FOLLOWUP PILOT STUDY
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background Patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) have an increased risk for developing cardiovascular diseases (CVD). This is partly due to the systemic inflammation characteristic disease, but also prevalence of ‘traditional’ factors such as dyslipidemia. The in RA often leads catabolism lipids, resulting a subsequent decrease HDL and LDL, while treatment anti-inflammatory medication reverses these effects. decreased cholesterol level active disease is, unexpectedly, associated incidence CVD (the lipid paradox). Additionally, we previously demonstrated pro-atherogenic profile changes preclinical patients. Objectives To explore patients through different phases i.e. from stage onset biological modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (bDMARDs). Methods Thirty-nine consecutive who were included both Reade’s prevention cohort current study. consisted individuals arthralgia factor and/or anti-citrullinated protein antibodies without arthritis, comprised using bDMARDs. Lipid spectrum was measured longitudinally, at following points course identified each patient (time baseline natural progression): 1.Baseline, months prior diagnosis (Start Prevention cohort) 2.Moment (End 3.Period between start bDMARD 4.Start bDMARDs 5-7.Continued Results From baseline, high density lipoprotein (HDLc) apolipoprotein A1 (ApoA1) up treatment, thereafter they slightly decreased. Low (LDLc) B (ApoB) higher activity, increasing again after starting therapy. Total cholesterol/HDL ratio substantially onwards stabilized phase. Lipoprotein(a) (Lp(a)) bDMARDs, which it stabilized. Figure 1 shows progression HDLc, LDLc total (TC) plotted against C-reactive (CRP) over time. 1. Time parameters vs activity. CRP = protein, Dx diagnosis, TC cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein, LDL low-density Conclusion Our study uniquely change during disease. While LDLc, ApoB HDLc ApoA1 increased, affirming expectations. Larger studies are necessary accurately elucidate development lipids stages patients, better understand one key RA. A Study of Lipid Changes in Rheumatoid Arthritis Patients
Lipoprotein abnormalities are usually observed in chronic inflammatory conditions like rheumatoid arthritis. The aim of the study is to determine the lipoprotein abnormalities in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. 52 patients of rheumatoid arthritis of varying age groups are choosen for this study and 37 healthy people were taken for the control. The estimation of triglycerides done by method ...

متن کاملEffect of Alpha-lipoic Acid Supplementation on Serum Lipid Profile in Women with Rheumatoid Arthritis
Background and Objectives: Alpha-lipoic acid (ALA) is considered as a potent antioxidant with anti-inflammatory functions. Moreover, a number of studies have revealed its lipid lowering properties. Therefore, we aimed to examine the effect of ALA on serum lipids in women with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), who have high mortality rate mainly due to accelerated atherosclerosis. Materials and Method...
متن کاملRemission from Depression among Adults with Arthritis: A 12-Year Followup of a Population-Based Study
Individuals with arthritis are vulnerable to depression. In this study, we calculated time to remission from depression in a representative community-based sample of depressed Canadians with arthritis who were followed for 12 years. We conducted secondary analysis of a longitudinal panel study, the National Population Health Survey, which was begun in 1994/95 and has included biennial assessmen...
متن کاملPilot study of phenytoin in rheumatoid arthritis.
The anticonvulsant drug phenytoin has several interesting immunological properties which could theoretically be of benefit in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. For this reason a pilot study has been carried out on 11 patients with active classical or definite disease. Seven patients completed a 20 week course of treatment and showed continuous improvement at 12 and 20 weeks and some deteri...
